Urban GAP and RCC at Baltimore Inner Harbor

The masts of the USS Constellation rise above the GAP signs.

The masts of the USS Constellation rise above the GAP signs.

Wednesday, we set up GAP and drove our RCC truth truck at the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Urban GAP is normally much quieter than campus GAP, but very much worth doing, especially in the summer when people love to walk around.  I hope we will come back after the tourists arrive.

We know of one baby saved.  More on that later.

Pro Life on Campus – New video debuts tonight!

CBR is following the model of social reform demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Lewis Hine, the American abolitionists of the 1800s, and William Wilberforce and Thomas Clarkson, who helped end the slave trade in England.

Dr. King found ways to show people what racism really looked like. Pictures of racist attacks on TV and in magazines opened people’s eyes and helped end segregation in less than 10 years.

CBR uses this same model of social reform to open people’s eyes to the truth about abortion.

Here is the video we’ll be showing tonight at our Celebrating Life event.

CBR featured in Knoxville News Sentinel: Graphic imagery shows truth about abortion

Great column in the Knoxville News Sentinel this morning by columnist Greg Johnson.  Be sure to add your comments at the bottom of the column.

By the way, here’s your last chance to order tickets to Celebrate Life with Mike Huckabee on Monday night.

Planned Parenthood aids pimp’s underage sex ring — See it for yourself.

This video documents a Planned Parenthood director in New Jersey helping a pimp run his underage sex ring.  As much as I dislike Planned Parenthood, I wouldn’t have believed this myself if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.

In the video, the manager of PP Central New Jersey’s Perth Amboy abortion clinic tells “Joe” and “Gia” how to get abortions, STD treatment, and contraceptives for their brothel of adolescents as young as 14, some here illegally.

Woodruff coaches the pair on how to have the younger girls lie about their age.  She gives them the name of another clinic (Metropolitan Medical Associates), a mill that is apparently even more sleezy than her own and will do abortions for pimps with even fewer questions asked.

Keep Planned Parenthood and abortion merchants away from our children

Pro-lifers lawfully demonstrating on public sidewalks and in the air.

I attended the parent’s meeting at Sacred Heart last Thursday.  A lot of good information was presented.  The best speaker was Alaynna McCormick, the Hardin Valley Academy student who sparked the controversy by telling her mother what Planned Parenthood was teaching at her school.

So far, the school officials are mum.  If they are getting the message, they aren’t letting on.  They don’t seem to understand that their one-page curriculum is almost irrelevant.  What matters is who is teaching and what they are saying.  And in the age of the internet, what websites are associated with the speaker.  It’s not just about what is said in class; inviting PP and the abortion industry into any school is an endorsement.  I don’t care what the anti-smoking curriculum says, I still wouldn’t get Phillip Morris to present it.

Despite the good work done by all who presented, there are two key points that are not coming through, as yet.  The parents are going to have to make policy makers and citizens alike more aware of two key points.

First, the PP websites contain much more debauchery than was exposed by any of the speakers on Thursday night.  It’s just like trying to explain abortion.  If you sanitize it, people don’t get it.  To effectively rid the schools of PP, they need to be exposed.  And they have published plenty of stuff that would make a sailor turn red.  We just need to buck up and read this filth into the public record, no matter how dirty it makes us feel.  Speakers need to blow up and hold up the pictures that are on PP websites and in their books.  Otherwise, we look like a bunch of prudes.  And it’s not just the description of the acts; it’s the encouragement of our teens to “experiment” and do whatever they feel like doing at the time.

Second, we need to expose the profit angle.  In a previous post, FAB documented the amount of money that PP stands to make off marketing sex to our children.  It is an outrageous conflict of interest, and it needs to be exposed.

CBR burning up Jill Stanek blog.

JillStanek.com is a pro-life blog that is read world-wide.  Readers are burning up the comment lines on two recent postings featuring CBR:

  1. My post, Use of graphic pictures not optional.  This post generated more than 100 comments.  Please go add your own!  This post was a good lead-in to this next one …
  2. Jill’s post, Video: The most shocking 4-minute abortion debate you will ever see.  A new CBR video juxtaposes shocking, graphic abortion footage upon a soothing videothat was produced by the Northland Family Planning Centers, a chain of late-term abortion clinics in Michigan.  The Northland video describes abortion as an act of “courage.”  The CBR overlay displays the truth.  (Note: the link given here just goes to Jill’s posting, not the video itself.)

GAP at the 2011 March for Life

Students attending the March for Life discover what it is they are marching about.

Students attending the March for Life discover what it is they are marching about.

CBR’s Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) was on display again this year at the National March for Life.

It is one of our most important deployments of the year, because so many of the marchers are young people who really have no idea what an abortion is … until we show them!  Many high-school students have commented that our display, which they only see for a minute or so, is the most memorable and impacting experience of their entire trip.  They will remember the pictures of abortion long after every one of the speeches have been forgotten.

Pro-lifers must dream big dreams and pursue bold visions

It is appropriate that the anniversary of the infamous Roe v Wade decision is observed at the same time as the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  We gain perspective and hope from knowing that civil rights activists eventually won their struggle to end slavery and Jim Crow, even though it took nearly 200 years.

They overcome insurmountable obstacles.  For them, like us in the pro-life movement, the discouragement must have been overwhelming at times.  But they fought on, never giving up on their dreams of equality.

If anything, Dr. King’s legacy should inspire us to dream big dreams and pursue bold visions.

I was reminded of this as I read Sen. Bob Corker’s remarks at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Sports Legacy Symposium at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. The symposium pays tribute to athletes who have made significant contributions to civil and human rights.

In his remarks, excerpted below, Sen. Corker spoke briefly about King’s bold vision and how it should inspire us to pursue bold visions of our own:

One of the people who has had a great impact on my life is a man named Jim Rouse.  His work to give low-income citizens the opportunity for decent and affordable housing has improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across our country. I met Jim in the 1980s, and he encouraged me to embrace a bold vision. He said, “Bob, if you have a bold vision, even if you only accomplish 80 percent of it, you’ve still accomplished far more than if your goals were small. A bold vision builds momentum and energy.”

Martin Luther King had a tremendous vision of what our country could be. He also had the courage to stand up and pursue it. He had a bold vision – a dream he called it – of human equality. He shared his dream with the rest of us and made sacrifices so that his children and grandchildren would live in a better country than the one he inherited.

Tragically, his life was cut short. But because he had a bold vision and energy behind it, others picked up his cause and today we are a far better nation as a result.

To truly honor his legacy we must dedicate ourselves to our own bold visions, to serving one another, to improving our communities, and to leaving behind a better country for future generations.

Do pictures work? Meet Abby Johnson! Today only, get her new book at 35% off!

She was the director of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Bryan, Texas.  But she had never seen abortion until one fateful day in September 2009.  Her clinic was shorthanded and needed somebody to man the ultrasound machnine.  She was asked to lend a hand.

In her new book, unPlanned, available today only at a 35% discount, Abby Johnson tells us what changed her from pro-choice to pro-life:

I could not imagine how the next 10 minutes [i.e., seeing abortion] would shake the foundation of my values and change the course of my life.  (page 2)

The image of the tiny body, mangled and sucked away, was replaying in my mind …  (page 5)

If she worked at an abortion clinic–even serving as its director–and was ignorant about what abortion is and does, how much more ignorant must our teenagers be, unless we show them the truth?

At a webcast I attended last night, I heard Ms. Johnson describe the process of changing her mind.  As we have observed in others, she required a “sink-in” period.  Even after she saw abortion, she didn’t become pro-life immediately.  She started out by saying, “I’m still pro-choice, but abortion is wrong for me.”  A few days later, it was, “I’m still pro-choice, but maybe abortion shouldn’t be legal in all cases.  Eventually she realized, “Maybe I’m pro-life.”  It’s a process.

Let me encourage you to purchase her book today.  It’s important because the first-day sales can determine whether the book shows up on the best-seller list or not, and also whether it is displayed at the front of the bookstore or at the back.  The more sales it gets on this first day, the more attention it gets, the more publicity it gets, etc.  All the juice means more people buy the book and learn the truth about Planned Parenthood.  Get your 35% discount here.

March for Life near you | Be there

Let me encourage you to attend a March for Life event this year.

National March for Life.  The national March for Life will be held in Washington, DC on January 24.  That’s where I’ll be, because I will be speaking at the Students for Life Annual Conference on the day before the March.  I’m on a panel discussion on the pros and cons of showing graphic abortion photos.  (Not sure which side I’ll end up taking.)  CBR’s GAP exhibit will be on display alongside the march route.

Knoxville, Tennessee.  Tennessee Right to Life, Knox County Chapter is holding their prayer service and march at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 23, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3200 Kingston Pike.  Alan Williams, WVLT News Anchor, will be speaking.  Should be awesome; sorry I’ll miss it.  After a brief prayer service, marchers will walk 0.8 miles down Kingston Pike and Concord Street to Tyson Park.  Shuttles will be available back to the church.  It matters if you are there.  Here’s the link.

Atlanta, Georgia.  In Atlanta, Georgia Right to Life will be holding their Together for Life Rally at 11:30 am, Friday, January 21, on the steps of the Georgia State Capitol.  Rebecca Kiessling will be speaking.  Here’s a bulletin insert for your church.

Send me your event and I’ll post it here.

In the culture wars, we are Patton’s Army fighting for Bastogne

Gabrielle and her classmates are fighting the good fight on the battleground that must not be lost. They deserve our help.

Gabrielle and her classmates are fighting the good fight on the battleground that must not be lost. The consequences of losing are too horrifying to contemplate, but they are outnumbered and surrounded.

Today, 66 years ago, the Battle of the Bulge began.  Soon, the eyes of the world would focus on Bastogne, a little town in Belgium.  As it turns out, the 101st Airborne had gone to Bastogne for some well-deserved R&R.  Nobody expected the battle that was about to ensue.

Geography made Bastogne the most important location on the battlefield.  All roads led to Bastogne.  (Tennesseans know the strategic importance of Chattanooga in the War Between the States, because all railroads went through this city.)  It was squarely in the middle of the German salient, and it was the key to victory.

The 101st Airborne fought bravely to hold the city, but they were surrounded, outnumbered, and outgunned.  Still, they fought on.  They were teenagers.

George Patton knew the war could be won or lost at Bastone, so he turned his army 90 degrees to the north and raced toward the city.  Yes, they were already in a battle of their own.  Yes, it was cold.  Yes, it was difficult.  But Patton knew the consequences of German victory would be too horrifying to contemplate.  On December 26, 1944, Patton’s army broke through to relieve the 101st.  For all practical purposes, the war was decided.

In the culture wars, the college campus is Bastogne.  That is where the war will be decided.  The Left understands this.  Although liberals comprise only 20% of the American population, they are 72% of all college professors.  They decide what is taught to the next generation.  They fight to remove all traces of Christian morality and thought.

Christian pro-lifers in this environment are like the 101st Airborne.  When they head off to college, they don’t know about the battle that will soon engulf them.  They are teenagers.

From their first day on campus, their beliefs are viscously and relentlessly attacked and mocked, by professors and fellow students alike.  They fight bravely, but they are outnumbered and surrounded.  They deserve our help.

The culture wars will be won or lost on the college campus.  We (all of us) are Patton’s army.  At CBR / Pro Life on Campus, we race to college campuses with the ammunition of plain truth about abortion.  We train pro-lifers how to articulate and defend the pro-life position.  We bring our GAP project and our truth trucks to reinforce the message that (1) the unborn child is a baby and (2) abortion is much worse than people think.

We are helping pro-life students fight the good fight, not against flesh and blood, but “against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]” (Ephesians 6:12).

We need your help.  At a bare minimum, would you consider $20/month, over and above what you are already doing?  If we can get 1,500 of you to do this—if you do it, the others will—we can visit an additional 42 major universities every single year.  Your $20/month will help us reach a million students every single year.  If $20 seems too little compared to what’s at stake, feel free to do more.  If $10 is all you have, then we ask you to commit that much.

Yes, you are already doing other things. Yes, it will cost you something.  But we ask you to join this battle for the future of our nation, because the consequences of losing are just to horrifying to contemplate.

Students for Life of America (SFLA) 2011 Conference

The Students for Life of America announces it’s Annual Conference:

On January 23, 2011 CBR will be at the Students for Life of America National Conference in Bethesda, Maryland.  This is the largest pro-life youth conference in the nation!

The SFLA 2011 National Conference is only a few months away and we want to invite you to come out to listen to Fletcher Armstrong’s workshop and get energized and activated in your own pro-life efforts!  Thanks to the generous support of Alliance Defense Fund, **from now until December 1st student registration is only $40** (after that it goes back up to $50).  That is for an entire day of training given by national leaders in the pro-life movement, networking with people from your communities and across the nation as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  This is an unbelievable price for a conference with this much to offer.

Even though this conference is hosted by Students for Life it is not only for students but for adults as well.  Adult registration is $60 and also includes the same great training and meals.

You won’t want to miss such great speakers as Scott Klusendorf, Life Training Institute; David French, Alliance Defense Fund; Alveda King, Priests for Life; David  Bereit, 40 Days for Life; former Planned Parenthood Director turned Pro-Life activist, Abby Johnson and so many more.  To see the schedule go here    http://studentsforlife.org/conference/conferenceschedule/

Pro-Life Politicians Sweep Statewide Offices in Georgia

Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) has announced that of the 104 candidates they endorsed for the November 2 elections, a whopping 90 of them won their elections.  This achievement is made even more remarkable when you consider the very strict endorsement criteria employed by GRTL.

All 9 of the statewide constitutional offices on the ballot won their races.  They were:

  • Governor – Nathan Deal
  • Lt. Governor – Casey Cagle
  • Secretary of State – Brian Kemp
  • Attorney General – Sam Olens
  • State School Superintendent – John D. Barge
  • Commissioner of Insurance – Ralph T. Hudgens
  • Commissioner of Agriculture – Gary Black
  • Commissioner of Labor – Mark Butler
  • Public Service Commission, District 2 – Tim Echols

On average, there was a full 15% advantage given to GRTL-endorsed candidate over the next nearest pro-abortion candidate in each prospective statewide race.

We congratulate GRTL on their victories!

Abortion photos save three more babies and moms

Got this message from Mary Jost, Director of the Focus Pregnancy Help Center in Rochester, NY:

I am the director of Focus Pregnancy Help Center in Rochester, NY.  We are two doors down from Planned Parenthood.  A small remnant of us go and protest in front of their place with your graphic pictures.  Girls have come up to us and said they changed their minds because they saw your graphic images.  I am convinced that showing the pictures is extremely effective in saving babies lives.

Last week, three girls carried their babies to term because they saw the graphic pictures.

Priest, Brother of Arrested Carleton Student: ‘I Can’t Be a Moderate Pro-Lifer Any Longer’

The arrests of five pro-life students at Carleton University earlier this month should inspire pro-lifers to step up and engage in the pro-life battle, said Fr. Simon Lobo, brother of arrested Carleton Lifeline President Ruth Lobo, in a powerful homily in Ottawa.

Fr. Lobo hadn’t been doing nothing.  He had attended the marches, the life chains, the 40 Days events, etc.  But after seeing his sister’s example, he knew it wasn’t enough.

It would be easy to blame the university, the police, or “those who promote a radically liberal agenda” for the arrests, he said in the homily, “but you and I are part of the problem, because we have put up with too much for too long.”

Fr. Lobo called the graphic images of abortion used in GAP, which are often seen as controversial, “disgusting.”

“But they’re also true and accurate.  Abortion is disgusting,” he added.
