Pro Life in Knoxville | Witness against Planned Parenthood
Last week, the Pro-Life Coalition of East Tennessee (ProCET) organized a protest at a Planned Parenthood (PP) fundraiser in Knoxville. About 30 people came to peacefully witness against baby killing.
The Tomato Head restaurant was closed to everyone but PP, and probably 20 or 30 people attended their event. It was mostly an older crowd. Our ProCET group was much more diverse, ranging in age from 7 to 70.
A few of us held the CBR “Choice” signs, and passersby studied them very intently. Several people thanked us for being there, which we appreciated.
One man, probably in his mid to late 30’s, told us that many years ago he had gotten a girl pregnant. She had aborted without his consent. It was devastating; he even ended up on the streets for a while. He still misses that child. He said he was grateful for our presence and he and his friend encouraged us to “Keep it up!”
We are very grateful to Paul Simoneau and Lisa Morris of ProCET for organizing this and many other pro-life efforts in Knoxville.
What do you think? Please comment!

scmiles says:So glad you were all there!! There was a newsweek article about the fact that the pro-life movement has a young face on it, but the pro-abortion folks are just getting older and not adding to their numbers. It’s true! Glad for all you do!

Chris Lefebvre says:America will not believe what abortion does until they see what abortion does! Thank you CBR for helping them to “see!”

Melissa says:Your signs are disgusting and untrue. A nine week fetus is less than 3/4 an inch in size. Stop shoving your beliefs down everyone else’s throats.

jane says:It is time we take those signs from the college campus to the work world of the rest of Americans and to the churches of the sleeping Christians. Everyone needs to SEE EVIL so they will STOP EVIL. Thanks, Pro-CET and CBR for accurate signs that teach Truth.

Kate says:Melissa~ Thanks for your comments! I do have to step in however and let you know that the pictures are extremely accurate and do indeed show true fetal age. CBR has proven time and time again to those determined to undermine the pictures that they are in fact truthful. http://www.abortionno.org/About_Us/lawsuits/authenticity.html Sometimes people see the pictures, and, since they are enlarged to show detail, assume that we are portraying the fetuses as larger than they are. You may notice the money in the pictures which is used for scale.
A more important question may be however, does the fetus’ size matter? If it is a human, then its size is irrelevant to whether or not it should be allowed to be killed. Would we kill a born child because it is smaller than other children? Certainly not, so the problem is not whether the child is small, but whether the child is a person. And as for questioning the pictures, in the aftermath of Hitler’s assault on the Jews, many Americans doubted the truth behind the pictures of death camps that were beginning to circulate. People didnt want to believe that what they were seeing was true. It was easier to think that the pictures had been fabricated. The same can be said of abortion. If abortion is truly a brutal crime against humanity, then we as a society are all guilty of this crime by either commission or omission. Ignoring or undermining the pictures makes it easier to justify our involvement in this crime. The pictures are, as you say, disgusting, but they are also true. So you must ask yourself: Why do you find them so difficult to look at? Heart surgery is disgusting, but we dont find it disturbing. Perhaps it is because abortion is truly the unjust taking of a human life, and the pictures remind us that we are allowing it to continue.

Patte says:Wonderful that you are exposing the unfruitful deeds of darkness! God bless you as you seek to save the poor little children from being slaughtered like pigs. No one should ever have to suffer the way those innocent babies do. Adoption makes abortion indefensible.
Melissa, check out http://www.parentprofiles.com & get the word out. Women who do not want their babies can personally choose a loving adoptive couple to be the forever mommy & daddy for their little one. And, adoption is FREE for the biological mom. Hooray for adoption!

Anonymous says:I’m all for your right to peaceful demonstration, but it would appear you care only for fetuses and not the small children you traumatize with your pornographic pictures displayed in public places. This sensationalism does the opposite of what you wish to achieve. It makes the average person believe you are not logical for having the audacity to pretend to care about children when you so blatantly display images to them that are inappropriate for a young mind.

Kate says:Anonymous-
I understand your concern for young children. It is this same concern that motivates CBR’s work. I do have to explain though, that the idea that children are somehow “traumatized” by the pictures is incorrect. I have young children, as do many of the people who work or volunteer with CBR. My experience has been (through watching many parents and their children view the pictures) that the children respond in complete curiosity rather than fear. They then look to their parents to see how they will react, and how they will explain the pictures. When their parents react with anger and fear, those same children wonder what could inspire such a reaction in their normally calm parent. These children tend to walk away without having their questions answered, and without understanding what theyve seen. On the other hand, when the parents react calmly, and use the opportunity to explain the pictures in an age-appropriate way, the children respond in kind. They walk away without being traumatized, and without fear.
Beyond simple experience however, I must point out that when something as terrible as abortion exists, a choice must be made. If abortion is truly the brutal killing of an innocent child, (as the pictures conclusively prove) then the opportunity to save a child’s life must come before a born child’s comfort or a parent’s sincere (if misguided) concern over what they see. If showing pictures of Jews being gassed would have saved lives and ended the war sooner, we would never have said that they shouldnt be shown for fear that a child might see them. We are talking about human lives here. That comes before all else.
Furthermore, although we sometimes take the display to public places, most of our work is done on the college campus, which is hardly a place for children. And to call the pictures pornographic is inaccurate. They are nothing of the sort. Take away any opinions, any rhetoric, or any other language, and the pictures are still truthful. They cannot lie. So again I have to ask, why do these particular pictures stir and disturb us so? Perhaps it is because abortion is truly the unjust taking of a human life, and the pictures remind us that we are allowing it to continue.

You’ve got to see this article form The Onion:

You will be offended the first time you read it, but once you realize it is a tongue-in-cheek stab at Planned Parenthood, you will enjoy.
Thanks,
